Canvas Paintings
Art has been a big part of my life, of my family’s life. As a kid I would watch my dad paint his canvas, working on the tiny details of each piece everyday. He used to paint the iconic Balinese traditional style that he learned from his father, one of the first generation of active painters in Ubud.
He taught me the basics of drawing figures and shapes since I was 4 years old, then he taught me how to master the paint brushes and coloring with oil paint, acrylic, and watercolor. I have never stopped showing interest in learning further in painting, so I began exploring more from more artists who lived in Bali and learned from them also.
Today, my favourite subject in painting is portrait. To me, trying to capture faces with the different emotions and expressions and visual them on canvas is such a great challenge. After exploring many styles, I find surrealism connects with my interest the most. It has such a strong energy that you can use to express your ideas and yourself, in the most unique way possible. My inspiration in surrealism is Salvador Dali, the world’s best-known surrealist artist.
Digital Art & Illustrations
As we all know, at the end of 2019 the world was hit by a global pandemic, causing many unfortunate events such as job loss. During the lockdown in 2020, I have lost many art projects, from small to big ones, from painting on canvas commissions to paintings on walls commissions.
On the other hand, I had more time to think than ever before. So I began to try and find a new way to earn a living during the pandemic and lockdown. Although I was never a big fan of digital arts, I still find many digital artists produce great works that never fail to amaze me. I started learning to paint digital in August 2020 and started receiving commissions the following month.
Murals
The journey continues. From paper to canvas, from canvas to walls. Have a look at a collection of my works on the walls. I mostly work with brushes and sometimes spray paints. Sometimes I paint walls just for myself and sometimes they are commissions. Clients always come with different preferences in styles so in order to meet their needs, I learned to paint different styles.
